Rolling Mill
At the heart of metal fabrication on the Armstrong Group shop floor, lies our crucial sheet metal rolling machine. The metal rolling process is performed within our specialized facility equipped with a high spec rolling mill which plays a vital role in shaping raw metal sheet into various forms required for the many and diverse industrial sectors within which we work.
The Sheet Metal Rolling Process At Armstrong
Sheet metal rolling is a metalworking process used by the team at Armstrong to convert flat metal sheets into various shapes, by passing them through a series of rollers within our rolling mill. These rollers exert tremendous pressure on the metal, gradually bending it into the desired shape without significantly altering its thickness.
This process is widely used at Armstrong, due to its versatility, efficiency and our expert engineering team’s ability to produce high-quality products with consistent dimensions for our customers.

The Roll Forming Process In Action
The sheet metal rolling process involves the following steps:
Preparation:
To prepare the raw metal sheet, it undergoes surface cleaning and inspection to ensure uniformity and remove any impurities that could affect the rolling process.
Feeding:
The prepared metal sheet is then fed into the rolling mill, where it passes through a series of rollers.
Rolling:
As the metal sheet passes through the rollers, it undergoes deformation, gradually acquiring the desired shape. The number of passes and the adjustment of roller gaps determine the final dimensions and curvature of the rolled metal.
Finishing:
Once the desired shape is achieved, the rolled metal undergoes finishing processes such as polishing or coating to enhance its appearance and properties.
